When you’re trying to tell a story as a photographer, sometimes you have to look beyond everything that is actively vying for your attention. When there is a lot of activity all around, look for the stillness…the calm. That was the case with the calm wedding moment captured in this photo:
While the bride and her mother sat calmly on one side of the curtain, on the other side there was a hurricane of activity. You can listen to the story of what was going on in the video below:
It would have been very to get wrapped up in the wedding games taking place on the other side of the curtain. There was a flurry of activity that certainly made for great images, but the story would have been incomplete without capturing these moments of calm between the bride and her mother.
Which wedding photo would you prefer to capture? The raucous party games or the calm wedding moment of a mother and daughter waiting together for the moment when they will join the rest of the party?
Why not have both? But you have to be on the lookout for those moments that don’t jump right out at you.
