Does anyone else have the problem with over-communicating with clients?

I receive an inquiry and I respond. If I don’t hear back in a few hours, I respond again. Then I wait a week. Didn’t hear anything? Fire off a couple more emails maybe try another way of communicating.
I think it all comes from fear that my messages are not being received.
So do you go through the same issue? How do you handle it?
